The Forty-Fourth President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, Rocks.
Over 4 years ago, a candidate who had just walked through an easy election into a Senate seat took the stage at the Democratic National Convention at the Fleet Center in Boston.

...If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that matters to me, even if it's not my child. If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It's that fundamental belief -- I am my brother's keeper, I am my sisters' keeper -- that makes this country work. It's what allows us to pursue our individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family. "E pluribus unum." Out of many, one.

Yet even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America -- there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America. The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America...

It wasn't long before we were all paying attention.

Now, after a long primary fight, and a decisive win in the general election, we are on the eve of a new dawn for this nation.

As the footer on BarackObama.com says, its "Powered by Hope," and millions of people who tried, and did, make a difference.

"The change we need isn't just about new programs and policies. It's about a new politics - a politics that calls on our better angels instead of encouraging our worst instincts; one that reminds us of the obligations we have to ourselves and one another."

"It is that American spirit - that American promise - that pushes us forward even when the path is uncertain; that binds us together in spite of our differences; that makes us fix our eye not on what is seen, but what is unseen, that better place around the bend."

"When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream."

For posterity, here's what I had to say about obamarocks in 2004:

Alright everyone, we all know Barack Obama is the new life of the democratic party. Will he change his mind and run in '08? Will we have to wait till 2024? Who knows, all we know for now is that Obama ROCKS!

So join up and talk about the best thing thats happened to the democratic party since Kennedy right here!
